Important information for No Kings 3
Please read!
More than 3,000 No Kings events are scheduled across the country and the world for Saturday, March 28! (Note on the map below: Iceland, Ecuador, and Kenya!) See the flyer at the end of this post for information on our event.
Parking:
Please note that the Azalea Trail Run is being held on the same day as No Kings 3, and early in the day there may be street closings and parking challenges along Government Street and around Mardi Gras Park. Your best bet for parking will be to the south of Government Plaza (the Church Street side). The ATR event should be over by 11:00, which is when we will be setting up for our event, but we might overlap briefly with them in Mardi Gras Park. Maybe some of the runners will want to stay and join us! 🏃♀️
Schedule:
We will protest along Government Street from 12:00 - 1:15 p.m. at which point we will move into Mardi Gras Park for brief remarks and action items. If you cannot stay for that portion of the event, please visit Mardi Gras Park during the protest and meet other progressive groups and pick up materials that will help you stay active in the resistance! We hope everyone will leave this rally with some concrete thing to do next!
Groups:
We have invited as many as we could of the progressive groups in town* to have a table in Mardi Gras Park—you will be encouraged when you see how many groups are actively working to make things better! Not every group’s mission will speak to you, we know, but please get to know some of these folks and consider supporting their efforts if it does. (And we are all about unity! “The enemy of my enemy is my friend!” 🙂)
Participating groups include:
PSL (Party for Socialism and Liberation) - local chapter
DSA (Democratic Socialists of America) - local chapter
FIBI (Families Impacted By Ice) Mobile —brand new group collecting donations of food and toiletries. See donation list below.
*We invited some organizations, including LGBTQ groups, who had to decline, saying that they are not operating publicly because of harassment and threats. All the more reason for those of us who can protest publicly to turn out.
Amenities:
We will have water and some snacks, as well as portable restrooms, in Mardi Gras Park. The handicapped-accessible portable restroom will be on the east side of the park (Royal Street side) near the wheelchair ramp. We have six medics and nine marshals to keep us healthy and safe.
At the Indivisible Mobile table, we will have:
Action items - ideas and materials to help you stay in the fight after this big day!
Free Indivisible Mobile buttons - Show your support for democracy and the rule of law wherever you go.
Free American flags - Protest is patriotic!
Indivisible Mobile T-shirts - Large and X-Large sizes available. If you would like a different size, we will be happy to order one for you. Suggested donation: $20
Pocket-sized U.S. Constitutions - The first Ten Amendments are especially good. 🙂 And check out that Article 2, Section 4! Suggested donation: $1
Information about our upcoming Indivisible Mobile Social Hours - Together we are stronger…and also happier!
And remember the challenges from a couple of weeks ago?
Please commit to bringing TWO friends who have never done this sort of thing before.
Please leave the protest with at least one action item.
Please promote our FREE newsletter to three friends.
Please encourage like-minded friends to follow our Facebook page.
