One of my favorite protest signs over this past year was both funny and spot-on:
America, you in danger girl.
The America we’ve known is in grave danger. Anyone who doesn’t see it is badly underreacting to the ICE agents who are acting as a violent secret police force within our American cities; to Donald Trump’s threats to deploy the military against “the enemy within” (he means us and anyone who resists his dictatorial impulses); to Stephen Miller’s insane and incendiary lies about “Antifa,” and to the use of the Department of Justice to persecute anyone Trump perceives as an enemy. Not even to mention the Big Bad Bill, which makes tax cuts for the wealthiest people in the country permanent while eliminating the subsidies that allow millions of people to afford health care, AND pumping $75 BILLION into ICE to continue their reign of terror!

Please join Indivisible Mobile and thousands of other organized protests across the nation on Oct. 18, 2025 for No Kings 2.0! We will gather at Government Plaza at 4:00 p.m. to protest along Government Street, after which we will convene in Mardi Gras Park for a Halloween party and brief remarks about what’s next. Wear a costume or dress in all black–we want to make a visual impact!
VERY IMPORTANT: Trump is itching to invoke the Insurrection Act and to declare martial law. We must not give him any excuse. (Not that he needs one, but still.) This protest will be an entirely peaceful, nonviolent expression of our First Amendment right to petition our own government for a redress of grievances. If we have any hecklers or counter-protesters, the best thing to do is IGNORE them. Report anything that concerns you to a marshal (orange vest) or an organizer (yellow vest). We will have trained street medics on hand, and signs and American flags to share.
