Take action Tuesday!
And every day thereafter...
While we are still on a high from the huge national turnout for “No Kings 2.0,” let’s take some action that will continue to make a difference. And if you want, you can wear your inflatable costume while you do it! Choose one, choose a few, choose them all, or take on a leadership role! There is an opportunity for everyone.
Card Campaign - Saving Democracy One Card at a Time
Part of our challenge is getting information to people who are just not that engaged in politics, or who are being misled and misinformed. The Card Campaign creates handouts that are meant to be left in public places and passed around. They provide the card templates and printing instructions, and you do your part by sharing with others as you can. (If you have family or friends who might be open to discussion, this would be a great way to start the conversation!) Share a little or share a lot—it all helps!
Postcards for Democracy
Research shows that eligible voters who get a handwritten postcard in the mail are more likely to register to vote and to vote in an upcoming election (such as the vote on California’s Prop 50 which will allow temporary use of new congressional district maps as a response to Texas gerrymandering). In tight elections and in swing states, those postcard-prompted voters can turn the tide!
—> There is a regular group that meets on Wednesdays from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Mobile, and you are welcome to join us.
—> If you would like to write your own postcards at home, or start your own group, you have a couple of options:
Go to Activate America and sign up for a Sincere account. From there, you can choose a campaign and how many addresses you want.
Postcards to Voters is another option. You will write and take a picture of a sample postcard in order to become an approved writer, and then you can request addresses for a variety of campaigns.
In both cases, you provide the postcards (I’ve ordered from Amazon and from Etsy), stamps, and labor. This is a fun, easy way to encourage people to get out and vote!
5Calls
5Calls is an app (you can also use it from your desktop computer) that provides you with current issues and scripts along with the phone numbers of your elected representatives. For example, one of today’s issues is No Kings in America: End Trump’s Dictator Rule, and the script calls for our representatives to “fulfill their duty as a member of a co-equal branch of government and stop this authoritarian takeover.” If you feel overwhelmed by the scope of the problem, 5Calls can help you focus your efforts and your influence. (Even if you never speak to your rep or even a staffer, they keep track of the number of calls and the opinions expressed!)
Veteran’s Day Protest
Ready to organize your own protest? A member of another Indivisible group is looking for veterans who will host a Banner Challenge for Veterans Day, “No Oaths to Trump!” on Nov. 11, 2025. Here is everything you need to get started, and Indivisible Mobile would be happy to offer support and advice (although we are not available to host this one ourselves). You could stand along Government Street like we did for No Kings, or protest from an overpass (we used the bridge off of Exit 10 - West Lee Street/Chickasaw over I-65 for the “Good Trouble Lives On” protest), or somewhere else! Reach out if you need help getting started: indivisiblemobileal@gmail.com.
Black Out the System
The overwhelming response to the cancelation of Jimmy Kimmel’s show—and the fact that he is back on the air—demonstrates our power as consumers. Target is also still reeling from the boycotts brought on by their capitulation over diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. The People’s Union USA organizes monthly boycotts, and BlackOutTheSystem is working towards a larger shutdown of consumer spending from Nov. 25 - Dec. 2 (which includes Black Friday). Corporations have MUCH too much power over our economy and our politics; this is the way we can start to push back. To start getting involved right now, click here.

Too busy/overwhelmed to read a book? Start a magazine club! Subscribe (in print!) to one of the magazines below or one of your choice, and meet a week after everyone has received and read their copy.
The Atlantic (I cannot recommend the Atlantic highly enough! Sample article: “ICE’s ‘Athletically Allergic’ Recruits: Push-ups, sit-ups, and a brisk jog pose a threat to Trump’s deportation campaign”)
The General Strike
We’ll have more to say about the potential power of a nationwide strike later, but it’s worth learning about it now. There might be a million reasons why a true general strike is impossible, but a lot of things were impossible when they were first proposed. Read up and think about it!
And finally…a march on Washington!
This is going to sound a bit unlikely, but bear with us. A very funny comedian named Cliff Cash has partnered with a group called Flare USA as well as 50501 and several other organizations to call for a mass gathering in D.C. How about an Indivisible Mobile road trip..?
In short, let’s get to work!
