We have a courtroom victory to celebrate!
Yesterday’s City of Fairhope v. Renea Gamble trial went great! The judge dismissed one charge (that of giving a false name) and ruled Renea not guilty on the others. We had a good group of supporters out, most of whom stayed for the entire three-hour trial. I will share more details soon.
Here’s what’s coming up:
Our first Happy Hour! Come make like-minded friends and share your thoughts and ideas.
Our observance of May Day includes a film and discussion at the Crescent.
National organizations are asking us to demonstrate our collective economic power and not go to work or school or do any shopping on May 1 (if at all possible). Instead we will gather at a locally-owned and operated theater and watch Inequality for All to learn more about how the billionaire class is threatening our economy and our democracy. We will have a brief discussion after the film about what we learned and how we can effect change. (For an example of potential reforms, read this great speech by California Congressman Ro Khanna.)
